One person. One verified vote. From anywhere.
VoteSecure is a digital voting system that confirms every voter's identity with a one-time password and face recognition — so universities, unions and institutions can run secure elections online, on any device.

Identity verifiedStudent council election
In-person voting is slow, costly and leaves voters out.
Traditional ballot-box elections ask every voter to be in one place at one time — and ask organisers to staff, count and certify every paper ballot.
Time-consuming
Queues and travel make voting a real effort for every participant.
Low turnout
Voters who can't reach the polling point simply don't vote.
Large workforce
Staffing stations, checking IDs and counting ballots takes many people.
Slow results
Manual counting delays the declaration of results.
Participation is falling, and trust is under pressure.
Around the world, fewer people are voting — and more results are being challenged. Elections at every level need to be easier to join and harder to dispute.
global average voter turnout fell from 2008 to 2023 — a drop of almost 10 points.
elections between 2020 and 2024 saw a losing candidate or party reject the result.
elections in the same period were disputed in some way, from boycotts to legal challenges.
Two panels. One trusted election.
VoteSecure separates the people who run the election from the people who vote in it.
For the election committee
Set up and manage the whole election from one secure dashboard.
- Create elections and define voting periods
- Add candidates and their details
- Open and close voting
- Publish results as soon as voting ends
For every voter
Register once, then vote from a computer, laptop or smartphone.
- Register with a voter ID
- See the candidates for your group or constituency
- Verify with OTP and face recognition
- Cast your vote once voting opens
Verified twice. Counted once.
- 01
Register
The voter signs up with their voter ID and confirms their phone with a one-time password.
- 02
Enrol your face
During registration, the voter uploads a short video so the system can create their face ID.
- 03
Review the candidates
Once registered, voters can see the candidate details for their own area or group.
- 04
Verify and vote
When voting opens, the voter verifies again with OTP and face recognition, then casts a single vote.
Two-factor authentication, built in.
Every voter proves who they are with two independent factors — something they have and something they are — both at registration and at the moment they vote.
One-time password
A unique code sent to the voter's own phone, valid for a single use.
Face recognition
The voter's live face is matched against the face ID created from their registration video.

Built for institutional elections.
Universities
Student council and faculty elections that every student can join — on campus or off.
Unions & syndicates
Board and leadership votes for members spread across many workplaces.
Institutions & associations
General assemblies, board elections and member referendums.
What changes when voting goes digital.
Vote from anywhere
Computers, laptops and smartphones replace the trip to a polling station.
More people take part
Removing the need to be present lowers the barrier to voting.
Fewer staff needed
No stations to man and no paper ballots to count by hand.
Faster results
Votes are tallied digitally, so results can be declared quickly.
Integrity by design.
One verified vote each
Two-factor checks at registration and at voting stop impersonation and double voting.
Biometric data handled with care
Face data is used only to verify identity for the election it was collected for.
The committee stays in charge
Election officials control setup, timing and the publication of results.
Engineers building trust into every ballot.
Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology
VoteSecure was founded in 2025 by a research team from the Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology, combining secure software, authentication and biometric recognition.
Frequently asked questions
What is VoteSecure?
A digital voting system that lets verified voters cast their vote online from a computer, laptop or smartphone, wherever they are.
How does it confirm who I am?
With two-factor authentication: a one-time password (OTP) sent to your phone, plus face recognition matched against the face ID created when you registered.
Can someone vote twice or vote for someone else?
Each voter must pass both OTP and face recognition before voting, which is designed to prevent impersonation and repeat voting.
Who runs the election?
The election committee, through the admin panel. They set up elections, add candidates, control voting times and publish results.
What kinds of elections is it for?
Institutional elections such as university student councils, unions and syndicates, and associations' board and assembly votes.
Built on peer-reviewed research.
